( Hodder and Stoughton 2004)
Synopsis :
Shadows Will Fall is a story of murder, and love and betrayal. Three murders, in fact, all of young women and all similar though 50 years  and the Atlantic ocean separates the first from the last, in Dun Laoghaire 2003.
For Frances Shaw the police investigation of the contemporary killing exposes a past that unravels her carefully structured life. But she¹s too keen a student of psychology, and too personally acquainted with love, loss and betrayal to accept the police theory of copy-cat murders. She also has a lot more of the facts than they do. Then comes the fire, and the threats, and a trip to Coney Island. And more knowledge about evil than Frances Shaw had ever wanted.
Reviews :
'Ms Doyle has succeeded in making the story into a gripping page turner, leaving the reader wanting to know  just what happens next...the story builds up layer by layer and, in the manner of all good thrillers, just enough information is doled out to make the reader reach for more...'
Irish Independent.

"Doyle is quick to grip the reader...the adept use of flashbacks gives us insights into the previous two murders...The book's only fault is that it ends too soon - but Doyle's play on words and her brilliant twist in the tale add up to an excellent read."
Mary Malone, Ireland on Sunday.

"Steeped in an oppressive athmosphere and a joy
to read."
Sue Leonard, Irish Examiner.
